Premature baby care is different than any other infant care. Premature infants are not usually their healthiest and need special precautions. This is especially true of those in the NICU that have not gotten to go home yet. A premature baby’s bath time is not all that different from a newborn’s bath time. However, there are more cords to work around.
Premature Baby Care at its Best
Little Brecklyn is one of the sweet little ones who seem to enjoy bath time. Taking extra care, her mother is able to hold her while using one hand to gently bathe her. Because of all the wires, it takes various hands to help make sure nothing comes lose and little Brecklyn gets clean.
Always doing the face last and hair last so as not to transfer germs from the rest of the body, as well as helping her to not get cold. Once the hair is wet an infant gets cold much quicker, which is not healthy, especially for a preemie. Bath time is hard for a preemie because they easily get tuckered out. A well-loved, well taken care of preemie, is a happy preemie.
