Bath time is always a fun time and you can make it more interesting during parenting in the time of COVID-19. However, with the indefinite suspension of schools due to the Coronavirus pandemic, parents need to find time to educate their kids. Instead of just enjoying the regular bath time games for babies, here are options that are both fun and educational. These games will help give your kids the necessary enlightenment they might be missing during this indefinite stay home period. You could teach your kids basic arithmetic, words, and even logical reasoning, although it depends on the age of the kid. While we aim to bring you educational games, we also try to make these activities as light and stress-free as possible

Question And Answer

Your kid will have to reach a certain age before you can play this game with them. Questions are an important part of parenting in the time of COVID-19. You could ask your kid why they did what they did, then listen to them explain to you without judging them. This is more of a time to let them express themselves. Listen to them before correcting their wrong ideas. If done right, this could be very beneficial to parents. Every day could have its question, as long as the kid does not feel pressured or judged by you. This would normally be left for the teachers to do, now you have to do it full time.

Tic-Tac-Toe For Parenting In The Time Of COVID-19

There are many bath time games you could play with your kids, but only a few that are truly mentally stimulating. Tic tac toe is one of those few games. There are water tic tac toe sets that you could get. You could even create your own with pieces of plastic. A few rounds with your 5-year-old would get them to do a little logical brainstorming. The more fun you can make this out to be, the more dedicated they will be. Tic tac toe is a simple game, but it does have a few logical takeaways that can make one person consistently win. This should be a good mental stimulator for your child.

Riddles

Riddles are another thing you can use to mentally stimulate your child while parenting in the time of COVID-19. Choose simple riddles to start with. As your kid keeps getting better and better at figuring out the answers, you can start throwing in more difficult ones. Make sure to give them simple and concise riddles, rather than lengthy ones. It should only contain one part instead of multiple parts (premises), which could confuse the kid, consequently killing their interest. Kids love winning, so, make sure they win at least one every day. If they don’t, encourage them to try harder. As always, the more interested a kid is, the better their participation and dedication.

Counting Games

There are many counting games you could play with your kid in the bathroom while parenting in the time of COVID-19. You could have them count the items in the bathroom, you could have them count their toys, etc. There are a plethora of things to be used in the game. However, doing just that does not make the game fun. You want something attractive that would drive their interest. For this you could ask them to count all the objects on the floor, all the objects not touching a surface (wall, floor, ceiling) or you could ask them to count all the objects that begin with the letter p, b, or s. This gets them to think.

Spelling Bee While Parenting In The Time Of Covid-19

Daily spelling bees in the bathroom are an awesome addition to time spent carrying out baby bath basics. Add some reward and watch your kid try hard to get the words correctly. If they can read, you can ask them to read certain parts of the dictionary and then ask them words from that part. You could also ask them to spell common words that have a little twist in pronunciation. This can also be a great time to practice their spelling list words from school. This game is a little tasking so you should consider adding rewards now and then, although not every time. Make it fun. You could even get them to ask you to spell some words.

Make Words

Spelling words is one way to go, making words is another. This game is quite simple, but fun. Give the kid a few letters and ask them to make words that must include these letters in them. For example, ask them to make a word that contains the letter q and p – that would be quip or equip. The harder the combination the harder they have to think. You could give them as much as five letters at a time. With this, your 5-year-old would be looking for where to learn more words in your time of parenting in the time of COVID-19 – if you can get them invested enough to want to win.

Name That Body Part

Name that body part is simply for teaching your kid the different body parts while parenting in the time of COVID-19. There is no better place for this game than the bathroom. If you want to make it more fun, you could ask them to name the part which you are currently washing. Another alternative is to point to specific parts and ask them to name that part. You could also explain the function of each part after they name it. Of course you would have to take the first two or three bath times to teach them the parts before you can start playing this game. Keep in mind there are plenty of parts to be named.

Animal Names Games For Parenting In The Time Of COVID-19

Zoology classes are closed, but that does not mean you can’t teach your kid about animals. You can place a little animal poster on the bathroom wall. Start with a few common animals before moving to more complex ones. This is an example of bath time games for babies that are easy and fun. Make an animal sound and ask them to name the animal. You could also point to the animal and ask them to name it. Once they name it, add one or two facts about the animal. You should learn these things and then teach your kids. After playing this a few times your kids should have some knowledge of the animals in our world.

Problem Solving And Parenting In The Time Of COVID-19

This is an important part of parenting in the time of COVID-19. Even schools most times do not teach kids this. Problem-solving requires developing a good decision-making system that can be applied to get solutions. How to put this in a game? Simple, just create a scenario and ask the kid how to come out of the dilemma. Have a nice interaction, listen to their reasons for the decisions they think would work, and educate them on why they would or wouldn’t work. Always encourage the kid. What do you know? You may be raising the next genius in the world. Note that this game is only applicable to older kids.

Tips For Games While Parenting In The Time Of COVID-19

Some of these games are preferable for older kids age 5 and above. For younger kids, you could find bath time games to play here. Although schooling your kid at home isn’t an easy task, doing a few of these activities during bath time promises the most relaxed environment for such. There is a need to educate as well as mentally stimulate your kids. Leaving the kid to the daily mundane activities we all go through isn’t going to help them a lot. While this is not an alternative to actual homeschooling (which you should consider), it is an addition to baby bath basics that promises both fun and knowledge during parenting in the time of COVID-19.
